Why attitude is more important than IQ | Ideapod

When it comes to success, it’s easy to think that people blessed with intelligence will steam ahead. But this isn’t the case. In fact, Carl Dweck (related TED talk below) has spent her entire life busting this myth. She has found that people tend to fall between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. With a fixed mindset, you believe that you cannot change, but people with a growth mindset believe they can improve with effort. While common-sense suggests that smart people have more confidence that they can improve, this is only true while the going is easy. The real test is is how you handle setbacks and challenges. People with a growth mindset tend to welcome obstacles with open arms. Dweck says that it’s all about how you deal with failure. But don’t worry, you can learn to develop a growth mindset. Do you think these 2 mindsets are an accurate predictor of success?
